Quarter Reading

  • A.  Choose a book that will be challenging, enjoyable, and right up your alley.
    B.  Establish an independent reading routine.  Please bring your choice book with you in class each day, especially Fridays in Literature when we read independently.
    C.  Join and contribute to Goodreads online community.  *If posting online is a problem, let me know and we can do a paper/pencil option.
    D.  Reflect on who you are as a reader.
(a.k.a. Read!  Always have your book in class--especially on Fridays--or watch Dr. Wusk go all Mama Bear on you . . . muahaha!)

Quarter 2 - Book Review

  • Critically evaluate the makings of a novel. (a.k.a. Would I recommend this to my best friend or should I hide it in the back of the library so no one else will suffer?)

Quarter 3 - Book Marks

  • Mark your reading process. Understand what effective readers do at the beginning, middle, and end of a novel. (a.k.a. What is going on in this crazy brain when I read?)

Quarter 4 - Reading as Social Interaction

  • Move from independence to collaboration. (a.k.a. Reading with friends is more fun.)
